A decade building inquiry-based science curriculum in Texas. AP Biology, Aquatic Science, Environmental Systems. B.S. Aquatic Science, University of Texas 1995. The foundation of a career that would span five countries.
Peter and Gwen made a deliberate choice together: give their daughters Heidi and Annika a worldly experience. Pack up Austin. Go international. Married 26+ years and still teaching side by side.
Berlin → Budapest → Leipzig → Jakarta → Berlin → Hefei. A lifelong passion for making — home renovation, car restoration — found its professional home in Design Technology. Built entire G6–G9 MYP curriculum from zero at CIS Hefei. Doubled the lab. Built the glass enclosure.
Married to Gwendolyn (Gwen) Brunet — IB Geography educator. Two daughters, Heidi and Annika, who grew up across four continents and became true global citizens. Available as a teaching couple.
Both started teaching in 1997 — same year, same city. Gwen built expertise in geography education over 13 years in Austin, earning her Masters degree. Place-based, systems-thinking pedagogy that she still practices today, five countries later.
For a geography teacher, living across five countries isn't just a career choice — it's the curriculum. Every city became a field study. Every country a living case study. Berlin (twice), Budapest, Leipzig, Jakarta, Hefei.
While Peter taught at AISB, Gwen was active in coaching and the International Women's Association — building community leadership in Central Europe while the family settled in Hungary. The Danube, the bridges, the thermal baths — geography lived rather than taught.
Our two daughters grew up across four continents — learning languages, navigating new schools, making friends across cultures. The whole adventure was for them. They are the best argument for international education we know.
"Every place has a story. My job is to give students the language to read it — the landforms, the climate, the human decisions layered on top of each other over centuries." IB Diploma, IGCSE, and MYP Geography across five countries and 25+ years.
Building curriculum from scratch. Redesigning spaces where students learn to make, think, and iterate. 25+ years · 5 countries.
